When in SILENT mode, three proprietary technologies work together to emulate the natural feeling and sound of an acoustic piano in your headphones. Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM) recreates the resonance of the strings, soundboard and case. Our advanced binaural sampling method simulates the sound you hear when sitting at the piano. Smooth Release Technology models the subtle interactions of the piano strings with the damper.

The finest woods
The U Series soundboards and ribs are crafted from solid spruce that has been hand selected at our Kitami Mill in Hokkaido, Japan giving these pianos a richer, more resonant voice and evenly balanced timbre across the entire keyboard.

Advanced V-Pro Frame

Specially crafted bass strings
Yamaha artisans in our factory in Kakegawa, Japan oversee the winding of pure copper and adjust the balance and tension of each bass string to the exacting standards and sound profile of every U Series piano.
